Systematic Intervention
Systematic Intervention
Systematic Intervention was a semester-long self-directed exploration into ways of creating and manipulating systems. Its outcome was these three books: Corrupt, Sequence, and Grid Undone.
Artist Statement:
My explorations challenge systems.
Society is regulated by guidelines telling us what makes something visually “right”. We’ve been pushed to believe elements like straight lines and symmetry are virtuous. While these guidelines create structure in our lives, there are instances when rules broken and interference becomes a means of expansion.
I set out to interrupt systems, but boundaries are needed, so I create my own methodologies. Visual structures and systematic processes are my modes of intervention and generation. Simple acts like corrupting images, repositioning dots, and shifting objects transform pieces far beyond their beginnings, yet leave marks of their former identity.
Systematic Intervention is a mode of meaningful creation.
